In order to determine how I could best create a better drive through experience I first needed to identify peoples primary pain points and desires when using them.

Thus I preformed a competitive analysis against 3 various different establishments, Starbucks, Taco Bell, and Chick-fil-A in order to see how each handled drive throughs and Mobile Ordering.

Testing

After I had a working prototype I preformed extensive testing utilizing a driving sim in-order to gauge peoples comfort interacting with various UI elements while driving. The feedback I received was numerous and highlighted a number of things including.

  • High variability in peoples comfort driving and interacting with a UI.
  • Certain elements were universally said to be too distracting.

These insights motivated me to strive for a minimized number of interactions & reduced cognitive load.

Final Deliverable

At the end of my project I presented a user flow with a persona going through their routine, demonstrating how the Carplay compatible app allows them to more conviniently order CFA and thus prompts them to order more often.
